Burlington, Vt. – University of Vermont Athletics is coming together with New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) as the Vermont-based financial institution signs on as the presenting sponsor of the Catamount Men’s Soccer team for the 2023 season in an agreement via LEARFIELD’s Vermont Sports Properties.

NEFCU has been a partner of the Vermont Athletics Department since 2005 and steps into this new role with the men’s soccer program coming off the team’s strong showing last season, making it to the quarterfinals in the NCAA tournament and finishing the season ranked fourth overall.

“We are delighted to enhance our relationship with University of Vermont Athletics through this new focus on men’s soccer,” said David Bird, Vice President of Brand Engagement and Partnerships for NEFCU. “As a pillar of the community in Vermont for more than 60 years, we pride ourselves on meeting our members where they are, whether that be in times of hardship or success, not unlike the moments we witness through sport. We look forward to supporting the men’s soccer team as they build on the strong momentum displayed last season.”

The relationship between NEFCU and UVM extends beyond the field to the classroom. The credit union joins the Student-Athlete Development (EDPE 024) course designed to empower first-year student-athletes to make good financial decisions.

“We are thrilled that NEFCU has made this added commitment to UVM Athletics, and we look forward to continued efforts with their team to maximize impact in the Vermont community through athletics,” said Vermont Sports Properties’ General Manager Alicia Hawks. “We are always proud when established relationships between local and national brands and the athletics department continue to grow and evolve in a way that is mutually beneficial for the organization, students, and UVM Athletics.”

“NEFCU has been a longtime partner of UVM Athletics, and we are excited to further the relationship with a focus on our men’s soccer program,” said University of Vermont Athletic Director Jeff Schulman. “We look forward to having NEFCU on board as our program continues to grow on the national stage.”
