Guests Can Donate Blood at Municipal Auditorium on March 10-12

For a second consecutive year, fans of Big 12 Conference member schools are encouraged to donate blood in conjunction with the upcoming 2021 Phillips 66 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in March.

Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City will host the Champions Save Lives Big 12 Blood Drive from March 10-12 at Municipal Auditorium – site of the women’s games and central donation location. The blood drive will be held on the first floor of Bartle Hall in Room 2215 from 2-7 p.m. on March 10 and from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on March 11 and 12. Registered donors at this blood drive will be eligible for a drawing to win a piece of autographed memorabilia from their favorite Big 12 men’s basketball coach.

“In the midst of COVID challenges, we’re pleased to still be able to host a 2021 blood drive with community partner CBC of Greater Kansas City,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “While we’re unable to host a full tournament experience for fans, we’re thrilled the blood drive can remain part of our basketball championship plans – and a way we can positively impact a region that is very important to our Conference.”

“The blood supply is and always will be vital to our healthcare system,” said Kim Peck, Senior Executive Director of Community Blood Center. “At this unprecedented time, donating blood is one thing you can do to help someone who desperately needs it.”

Appointments are strongly recommended and can be made at www.savealifenow.org or call 1-877-468-6844. All donors are asked to wear masks to their donation. Temperatures will be checked at the door and social distancing protocols will remain in place. For more information regarding CBC’s response to COVID-19, visit https://smarturl.it/CBC_COVID19FB.
