Long-Time Radio Affiliate to Continue Bringing Middle Tennessee Game Action to Fans
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Learfield’s Blue Raider Sports Properties, announced today that long-time station affiliate WGNS will now serve as the university’s radio production home for the next five years.
Owned by The Rutherford Group, WGNS News Radio AM 1450, FM 100.5 and FM 101.9 will carry all home and away football games, as well as all men’s and women’s basketball and baseball games, through the 2022-23 collegiate athletic season. Additionally, the stations will air the seasonal coaches’ shows for the respective sports.
“We are so excited to continue our commitment with MTSU Athletics,” said Scott Walker, president of The Rutherford Group. “WGNS is equally excited about broadcasting Raider baseball for the first time, which should give listeners a better taste of college sports in our community.”
“Middle Tennessee is proud to grow our partnership with WGNS” said Chris Massaro, Director of Athletics for Middle Tennessee. “It is great to be on a station that is committed to our broadcasts and wants to air our games. This is what our fans in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County deserve.”
