KINGSTON, R.I.– Rhode Island Athletics has extended its multimedia rights relationship with LEARFIELD as announced on Wednesday, June 21 by Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn.

LEARFIELD has represented URI since 2014, and its extended agreement will be for 12 years through 2035. Locally based Rhody Sports Properties, led by General Manager Matt Swiss, will continue to have daily oversight of the LEARFIELD relationship and work alongside Bjorn and his administration on the integrated components. Additionally, Rhody Sports Properties maintains the corporate partner platform, managing all direct relationships with local, regional and national brands wanting to align with Rhode Island Athletics.

“We’re thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the industry leader in the collegiate athletics multimedia space,” said Bjorn. “LEARFIELD and its Rhody Sports Properties team has established itself as a trusted partner and I’m confident their team will continue to elevate URI Athletics in the marketplace. I also want to express our appreciation to LEONA for serving as the consultant to our athletics department during the process that led to our extension.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with URI Athletics to provide resources and solutions to help Thorr and his great team provide an incredible experience for their student-athletes and fans,” said Mike Hamilton, LEARFIELD’s Executive Vice President of the University Partnership Group. “URI has a strong, passionate fan base that brands want to connect with, and we look forward to collaborating on many great initiatives moving forward.”
