PLANO, Tx. – LEARFIELD, the multimedia rights holder for Utah Athletics, today announced the broadcast crew for the Runnin’ Utes this upcoming 2023-24 season.

Bill Riley returns for his 14th season as the “Voice of the Utes,” while Utah basketball alumnus Sean Mooney steps into the analyst role. Mooney was a member of the 1990-91 Runnin’ Utes team that captured the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular-season title and advanced to the Sweet 16. That squad finished the year 30-4 overall with a 15-1 mark in conference action.

In preparation for the 2023-24 campaign under the direction of third-year head coach Craig Smith, the Runnin’ Utes return eight players and have added seven newcomers to the squad. The starting core of Branden Carlson, Ben Carlson, Gabe Madsen and Rollie Worster from last year’s squad headline the group of returnees having combined to play nearly 3200 minutes between the four. Utah will also have the services of Wilguens Jr. Exacte, Keba Keita and Luka Tarlac.

Joining the Runnin’ Utes for this upcoming season include four guards (Hunter Erickson, Cole Bajema, Deivon Smith, Jerry Huang), two forwards (Jake Wahlin, Ayomide Bamisile) and one center (Lawson Lovering). Of the newcomers, four are transfers while the other three are incoming freshmen.

The Utah men’s basketball team will end its summer on a foreign tour to Spain in late July and return the first week of August ahead of the start of the new academic year.
