Ames, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Cyclone Sports Properties, announced today that Nationwide will serve as the title sponsor for the 2023 Jack Trice Legacy Game.

The University’s centennial commemoration of Trice and the trails he blazed at Iowa State began last fall with the dedication of the Breaking Barriers statue on the Albaugh Family Plaza at Jack Trice Stadium, and will culminate with the Legacy Game, presented by Nationwide, on Saturday, Oct. 7, against 2022 College Football Playoff finalist TCU. The Cyclones will wear throwback jerseys against the Horned Frogs to pay tribute to Trice’s legacy in the stadium that bears his name a day before the 100th anniversary of his tragic death.

The game will be anchored by numerous events and featured programming to commemorate Trice’s life and enduring legacy, creating an extremely meaningful weekend for Cyclone fans, alumni and the community.

In addition to the throwback jerseys and specially designed helmets that the Cyclones will don against the Horned Frogs, the University and Athletics Department, along with Cyclone Sports Properties and Nationwide, are collaborating to create meaningful opportunities to honor Trice, including a special commemorative game ticket for season ticket holders.

“The legacy that Jack Trice left lives on today at Iowa State and we look forward to honoring his impact on our campus and community this fall,” said Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard. “We deeply appreciate Nationwide’s commitment to the Jack Trice Legacy Game during the 2023 football season.”

The Cyclones officially kick off the 2023 football season with their Spring Game on Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m. on Mid-American Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium. Fans are welcome and admission is free.

For Nationwide, a loyal, longtime supporter of Cyclone Athletics, this weekend’s Spring Game serves as the formal launch of its dedicated sponsorship of the Jack Trice Legacy Game against TCU.

“As a longstanding partner of Iowa State and a company with thousands of Iowa-based associates, and a Trice family member within our ranks, this centennial commemoration holds great meaning for Nationwide,” said Nationwide Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer Ramon Jones. “We’re honored to join the university, community and the Trice family in recognizing Jack’s legacy as a trailblazer.”
