CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Mocs and multimedia rightsholder Mocs Sports Properties announced a new multi-year relationship with Text Request Tuesday. The locally-based business texting platform enables fan engagement through text messaging.

Fans are now able to text “GOMOCS” to (423) 266-6627 for ticket sales, game announcements and ongoing updates for the sports of football, men’s basketball and softball. The partnership allows for growth in fan engagement for in-game contests, general questions and more. Fans do not need to download anything, just use their standard text messaging app.

This is especially exciting in the area of virtual engagement as it becomes increasingly important, particularly in light of the pandemic. Fans crave mobile, digital-first experiences and text messaging meeting them where they are. Being about to partner with a local company that’s a leader in the field and led by Chattanooga alums makes it an even greater connection.

“We appreciate the support of Text Request, a local company with a natural affinity to the Mocs with alumni Brian and Jamey,” said UTC Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Mark Wharton. “We’re thrilled to welcome them into our Mocs corporate partner family, and we look forward to working with them in an official capacity starting this month.

“We always look to strengthen our engagement with our fans and community. Text Request opens doors for us in both areas.”

Fans can get started as soon as this weekend’s men’s basketball visit from The Citadel by texting “GOMOCS” to (423) 266-6627 for a $2 discount on tickets. The Mocs and Bulldogs square off at 4 p.m., Saturday. One announcement supporters might receive includes a reminder it is the Hamilton County Schools Closet Donation game.

“We exist to help organizations better connect with their bases,” said Text Request CEO and co-founder Brian Elrod, “And we’re invested in strengthening our Chattanooga community. This partnership brings both of these missions together. And on top of that, I first met my wife and Text Request co-founder Jamey at a concert at McKenzie Arena, called the Roundhouse back then. Talk about full circle.”

Chattanooga athletics multimedia rightsholder and local LEARFIELD team, Mocs Sports Properties, secured the relationship on behalf of the university.
