Overland Park, Kan. – Legacy Restaurant Group, LLC, a Wendy’s® franchise organization, is excited to announce a multiyear relationship with LEARFIELD’s Jayhawk Sports Properties and Kansas men’s basketball Head Coach Bill Self, enabling Wendy’s to become the Preferred Breakfast Sandwich of Kansas Athletics. As a part of the agreement, Legacy Restaurant Group and Coach Self have committed to donating $150,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, supporting their goal of finding forever families for children in foster care. “There is nothing more worthwhile than helping our children and our youth. They are so vulnerable at such a young age, we have to do everything we possibly can to help these kids,” Coach Self said.

Jayhawk fans will want to take advantage of Wendy’s local “Buckets for Baconators” campaign this season. In collaboration with Kansas men’s basketball, Buckets for Baconators allows fans to purchase a $2 Breakfast Baconator® the day after a home or away Jayhawk win. The Breakfast Baconator is the Preferred Breakfast Sandwich of Kansas Athletics, and the breakfast sandwich of true champions. Fans can visit any participating Wendy’s location in Kansas City Metro, Lawrence, Topeka and Salina markets to receive a $2 Breakfast Baconator by mentioning Kansas Basketball or Buckets for Baconators. Fans also are encouraged to follow Kansas Athletics on social media to stay up-to-date on exclusive Wendy’s offers during the season.

Allen Fieldhouse got a little bit cooler this season, as Wendy’s has launched a Frosty® Pop-Up on the main concourse of Allen Fieldhouse with KU. Located just north of the Booth Family Hall of Athletics, the pop-up will open two hours before tipoff on gameday. It is home of “Frosty in the Phog”, a new KU tradition. The iconic Frosty dessert is sure to bring Jayhawk fans a tasty treat on game day. The pop-up will serve Wendy’s chocolate and vanilla Frosty treats. “We are excited to partner with KU Athletics and Coach Self to showcase our beloved Wendy’s brand in Lawrence and the greater Kansas City market,” Kirk Williams, Chairman of Legacy Restaurant Group and KU Alum said.

“We’re proud to work with Legacy Restaurant Group to create distinct tie-ins for Wendy’s and Jayhawk fans this basketball season,” said Marc Tuttle, general manager for Jayhawk Sports Properties, KU’s athletics multimedia rights holder and locally based LEARFIELD team. “Between the Buckets for Baconators promotion and a Frosty Pop-Up at Allen Fieldhouse, fans will start seeing some of the exciting elements planned this season.”
