Sponsorship will promote new round-up option for scholarships through Forever Buffs Banking

BOULDER — Elevations Credit Union, a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution serving Colorado’s Front Range, has been named the exclusive credit union of CU Athletics for the fifth consecutive year.

The sponsorship will raise awareness of Elevations Credit Union’s Forever Buffs Banking, a checking account designed for CU Boulder alumni and Buffs fans. New this year, Forever Buffs debit cards come with the option to support CU student and student-athlete scholarships every time you swipe by rounding up purchases to the nearest dollar.

“As a credit union founded on the campus of CU Boulder, we’re always looking for ways to support scholarship efforts at the university,” said Elevations Credit Union President & CEO, Gerry Agnes. “We’re excited to extend our round-up program, Local Change, to Forever Buffs Banking so that our members have an easy way to support scholarships with their everyday purchases.”

“Elevations Credit Union’s scholarship support makes Coloradans university dreams a reality,” said CU Athletics Director Rick George. “The credit union was founded at CU Boulder and has continued to show love for our community in impactful ways.”

Elevations Credit Union has been the exclusive credit union of CU Athletics since 2017. This year’s sponsorship also provides funding for The Herd, the 5,000-member student arm of the University of Colorado Boulder Alumni Association dedicated to enhancing the CU Boulder experience. The relationship between CU and Elevations Credit Union is overseen by LEARFIELD’s Buffalo Sports Properties, the university’s athletics multimedia rightsholder.

The Buff Is Back

Elevations Credit Union returns as the title sponsor of the 19th annual Elevations Credit Union Buffalo Bicycle Classic. More than just a bike ride, the largest annual pledge-based scholarship fundraising event in Colorado was created in 2003 to raise scholarship funds for students in CU’s College of Arts and Sciences. Elevations has been a sponsor since the ride’s inception, and the Buffalo Bike Classic has raised more than $3.4 million for these high-merit/high-need scholarships since then.

This year, the race will make its post-pandemic return on Sept. 12, 2021, and will feature the new Dirty Epic 62-mile gravel ride to Nederland, the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway and back to Boulder for those who are “Buff Enough.”

It All Adds Up

Elevations Credit Union has a legacy of scholarship support at CU Boulder. In 2020, Elevations Credit Union provided more than $175,000 in scholarship funds for CU Boulder students. That includes scholarships for children and dependents of CU Boulder faculty and staff, support of Elevations Scholars at CU (a scholarship program for Colorado resident freshmen in the College of Arts and Sciences, or the Leeds School of Business), and support for the Office of Pre-College Outreach & Engagement, which provides comprehensive college preparatory and social development skills to first-generation and low-income youth in our communities.

Elevations Credit Union is also honored to support the scholarship programs of Elevations Foundation, an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit, including the WM. C. “Bill” Sterner Memorial Scholarship for students attending CU Boulder.

“Back-to-school season is once a year, but we depend on donations year-round to fund community grants and scholarships through the Elevations Foundation,” said Eric Lentz, Executive Director of Elevations Foundation. “College students should be able to turn to their bank in times of need, and we’re doing our part to ensure that they can.”
