DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Wildcat Sports Properties, are honored to announce that in its first year of partnership with the athletic department, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is donating $100 for every UNH touchdown scored during the 2018-19 regular season to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire. CASA of NH recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in the New Hampshire court system.
“Harvard Pilgrim Health Care is proud to support the successes of the Wildcats on and off the field. The coaches, student-athletes, and athletic programs of UNH are assets to our state and inspire youth to be engaged and active,” said Dr. William Brewster, Vice President of the New Hampshire Market for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. “We know that the opportunities provided as part of our partnership with the Wildcats will positively impact CASA of NH, the many children that CASA serves and inspire other community members to learn how they can provide support too.”
“We’re honored that with each touchdown we score, the kids and families that CASA of New Hampshire supports win too,” said Interim Head Coach Ricky Santos.
UNH Director of Athletics Marty Scarano added, “CASA of New Hampshire is a special organization that our state is lucky to have. It’s meaningful to our entire department to have great corporate partners like Harvard Pilgrim Health Care that allow us to use our successes on the field to drive their contributions.”
To date, the Wildcats have scored 22 touchdowns, and an on-field recognition will take place at halftime during the final regular-season game on November 23, when Maine comes to Durham for the annual Border Battle at 1 p.m. in Wildcat Stadium. The total donation amount will be announced, with representatives from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and CASA of NH in attendance.
