ORONO, Maine — University of Maine Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Black Bear Sports Properties, announced Wednesday a new five-year relationship with Bangor Savings Bank.  This integrated pairing will allow Bangor Savings Bank to serve as a lead sponsor to UMaine Athletics, providing the opportunity to engage on a variety of programming.

The UMaine-Bangor Savings Bank relationship is effective immediately. Bangor Savings Bank will serve as title sponsor for the Black Bears’ women’s sports programs as well as the Bananas Cub Club for kids. It will also be presenting sponsor for the homecoming football game on October 26, when UMaine plays host to William & Mary.

“It is wonderful to have Bangor Savings Bank partnering with the Black Bears once again,” said Ken Ralph, Director of Athletics at the University of Maine. “They have a great local presence while also having strong reach throughout Northern New England. This is such a natural connection and its synergies will benefit both parties.”

“We are proud to partner with Maine’s flagship university, which hosts the only Division I athletic program in Maine,” says Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO, Bob Montgomery-Rice. “We look forward to engaging with fans, students, and alumni through this partnership. Go Blue!”

“We have the privilege of working alongside UMaine Athletics and identifying reputable local, regional and national businesses wanting to align with the Black Bears,” said Justin Barnes, Black Bear Sports Properties’ general manager. “We’re pleased to enter into this new relationship with Bangor Savings Bank and appreciate their commitment to support UMaine and its athletics programming.”
