Dedicated Support for Women’s Athletics, “Official Retail Bank of the Florida Gators” Among Significant Elements of New UF-Wells Fargo Relationship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators and long-standing corporate sponsor Wells Fargo today introduced a new multi-year relationship, elevating the financial institution’s overall integration with Gator Nation and the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Notably, Wells Fargo will serve as the official sponsor dedicated to women’s athletics and assume the “Official Retail Bank of the Florida Gators” designation.

“This renewed Wells Fargo relationship is strategically positioned with modern and dynamic activations to help make the Gators fan experience easier, more personal and helpful in ways fans wouldn’t expect,” says Nicholas Carey, SVP, Head of Sponsorships & Brand Engagement for Wells Fargo.  “The delivery of cutting-edge, social media content and fan promotions are designed to help bring Gators fans and our customers closer to the teams they love; game to game, season to season and beyond,” added Carey.

As “Official Retail Bank of the Florida Gators” Wells Fargo is committed to academic and athletic excellence, as well as the life skills development for all University of Florida student-athletes through financial education workshops and programming.

“Wells Fargo’s relationship with the University of Florida dates back more than 30 years. We’re proud of our strong presence in the swamp, where many of our team members and customers are students, alumni, Gator parents and fans,” said Northeast Florida Region Bank President Damien Haitsuka. “Our goal is to make a positive difference through our support and engagement with the university and community.”

“What a privilege to have Wells Fargo support the University of Florida and our student-athlete programming for so many years now, and we greatly appreciate their steady commitment to us in Gainesville,” said UAA Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs Jay Jacobs. “An enhanced sponsorship like theirs is incredibly valuable, and we look forward to introducing Gator Nation to all the different ways we’ll be working together.”

Beginning this football season, Wells Fargo also will sponsor certain aspects of University of Florida Homecoming at “The Swamp” and UF Alumni Association’s Gator Nation Tailgate. These assets, as well as Wells Fargo’s comprehensive sponsorship with UF, is managed by Florida Gators Sports Properties – the university’s exclusive athletics multimedia rightsholder and locally based Learfield IMG College team.
