UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO SELECTS LEARFIELD TO MANAGE BULLS’ COMPREHENSIVE MULTIMEDIA RIGHTS
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo has selected Learfield as the Bulls’ first-ever athletics multimedia rights partner in school history as announced today by UB Director of Athletics Allen Greene and Learfield President and CEO Greg Brown.
The multi-year relationship between Learfield and UB Athletics officially starts on March 1, 2017, pending necessary state approvals, while planning already is under way for the establishment of Learfield’s UB Sports Properties (UBSP). This local team will be solely dedicated to UB Athletics and manage all aspects of the Bulls’ rights related to signage, digital, corporate sponsorships, television and radio play-by-play, and coaches’ shows. UBSP, which also will create a radio network for the Bulls, will work in complete collaboration with Greene and his athletics administration on a daily basis. Learfield specializes in campus-wide sponsorship initiatives as well and will be assisting the university in developing, marketing and implementing related sponsorships and business-to-business opportunities.
“Partnering with Learfield allows us to strengthen our national profile as New York’s Public Powerhouse,” Greene said. “Learfield is an industry leader with a proven track record of success, and this partnership illustrates our increased value in the marketplace. Our athletic programs have made tremendous strides in recent years, and we believe teaming up with Learfield will only help intensify our strong community support and nation-wide engagement.”
With the addition of Buffalo, Learfield now has a relationship with four members of the Mid-American Conference as the collegiate marketer holds individual multimedia rights agreements with Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and Toledo.
“We look forward to working with UB Athletics as they further develop their brand and relationships with corporate partners,” said Brown. “We’re excited to work with Allen and his team in representing the Bulls.”
