NORMAN, Okla. — For a second straight season, the University of Oklahoma in 2018 will offer a Spanish audio broadcast of all of its football games. For the first time, however, Spanish broadcasts will also be available over the air in the state’s two largest markets.

The OU Athletics Department, in conjunction with Learfield’s Sooner Sports Properties, announced Friday that in addition to last season’s live stream options via TuneIn on-demand audio broadcast site and app, OU’s 2018 football games will be available on Éxitos 96.5 FM in Oklahoma City and 101.5 FM El Patrón in Tulsa, as well as on those stations’ websites.

“Last year we expected hundreds of listeners but we had thousands. That fueled our desire to expand the reach of the broadcasts.”

Spanish broadcasters Enrique Vasquez and Luis Rendón will call OU’s games in 2018, with Vasquez handling play-by-play duties for the second straight year and Rendón serving as color analyst. Vasquez has served as play-by-play announcer on the Houston Texans’ Spanish radio broadcasts since 2012. Rendón graduated from OU in 2018 with a master’s degree in broadcast journalism.

Each OU Spanish broadcast will feature a 30-minute pregame show and a 15-minute postgame show.

“Last year we expected hundreds of listeners but we had thousands,” said OU Senior Associate Athletics Director Kenny Mossman. “That fueled our desire to expand the reach of the broadcasts.”

The streaming agreement between Learfield and TuneIn provides Oklahoma fans complimentary access to a dedicated Sooner Network channel to find game action and related OU sports programming. TuneIn airs live football and men’s basketball games, as well as coaches shows, at no cost. TuneIn’s Sooner Network channel also airs live select women’s basketball, baseball, softball and other game broadcasts throughout the season. All OU athletics events that are broadcast via radio are available for free via TuneIn, SoonerSports.com or a Sooner Sports Network affiliate’s website.

TuneIn has the most comprehensive free college football coverage in the industry with hundreds of live games from every major conference, including the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC, AAC, MAC and WAC. At the start of the season, fans can simply search for their school on the TuneIn app or visit TuneIn.com/collegefootball. TuneIn is available for download on iOS and Android, as well as on more than 200 connected devices.
