MADISON, Wisc. – Wisconsin Athletics is officially inducting Matt Lepay, the beloved radio voice of the Wisconsin Badgers athletics, into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame. Lepay’s unwavering commitment to Wisconsin Athletics has made him a household name in Wisconsin, and his induction is a celebration of his significant contributions to the world of sports broadcasting and the university.
Matt Lepay’s induction into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to sports and touched countless fans’ lives with his exceptional storytelling and unwavering loyalty to the Badgers. His remarkable ability to convey the excitement of the game and his deep understanding of the players and program have made listening to Lepay a cherished tradition for fans near and far.
Matt Lepay has been the voice of Badger basketball since 1988, and he has also been the radio play-by-play voice for Wisconsin football since 1994. Over his illustrious career, he has been honored as an 11-time ‘Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year.’ Lepay has called numerous significant events, including five Big Ten Football Championships, six Rose Bowl Games, and three NCAA Final Four appearances. As the host of the ‘Badger Sports Report’ for football and men’s basketball, Lepay cemented his role as a key figure in Wisconsin sports broadcasting. His exceptional contributions were recognized with his induction into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2024. Additionally, he was honored with the Madison Sports Hall of Fame Club’s Pat O’Dea Award in 2013 for his service to the University of Wisconsin athletic department.

Matt is also a pillar of the community and supports important community causes. Along with his wife Linda, Matt supports the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s initiative to combat Alzheimer’s disease.
