Omaha Hockey, Basketball to Air on 1290 AM Effective Upcoming 2022-23 Athletics Season

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Athletics and its athletics multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Omaha Sports Properties, announced a broadcast extension with longtime partner NRG Media.

The new agreement, concurrent with the 2022-23 college athletics season, calls for News Talk 1290 AM KOIL to carry all hockey games live. Additionally, 1290 AM will provide fans live coverage of Omaha men’s and women’s basketball. In the event of a scheduling conflicts, NRG Media will utilize additional stations, 1180 The Zone AM KZOT and 1620 The Zone AM KOZN, to carry live game coverage.

Newstalk 1290 KOIL is a heritage Newstalk station in Omaha carrying syndicated talk shows such as Gordon Deal, Brian Kilmeade, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and others. Gary Sharp, co-host of NRG Media’s sports/talk station 1620 The ZONE, will continue calling play-by-play for Omaha Men’s Basketball on 1290 KOIL.
