FSU Alumni are Behind Renowned Bakery/Restaurant & Wholesaler and New Multi-Year Relationship

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State University Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Seminole Sports Properties, announced Brisas Empanadas as the Noles’ newest corporate partner.

Notably, the multi-year agreement allows Brisas to assume the sponsorship designation of Seminoles’ “Official Empanada” – which is believed to be the first-of-its-kind among Power 5 universities, and a first for FSU.

Brisas Empanadas is the newer, wholesale extension of the iconic family owned and operated Brisas Colombianas Bakery & Restaurant that opened 24 years ago in New Jersey. Beginning this spring, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of Brisas’ empanadas during FSU baseball and softball games. In the fall, Brisas’ products will be extended to football and soccer gameday concessions as well.

“It’s an honor to create a historic and unique partnership with our alma mater,” said Brisas Empanadas CEO David Orozco. “As the first-ever ‘Official Empanada’ in Power 5 history, we’re proud to bring a taste of Latinx culture to the FSU community. We’re excited to provide delicious, shareable options to elevate Florida State’s already exceptional gameday experience.”

Like Orozco, Brisas’ entire executive team and company founders are graduates of FSU’s College of Business via the FSU Sales Institute, making this new sponsorship even more unique.

“We are excited to introduce Brisas as the Official Empanada of Florida State Athletics,” said Seminole Sports Properties General Manager Caleb Swann. “Early in our conversations, it was clear that Brisas was going to be a great fit for our fans and alumni. The passion they have for producing quality products was met hand in hand with the same passion for their alma mater. We look forward to improving our gameday experience through providing Brisas Empanadas to our fans.”

In advance of Seminole baseball and softball seasons starting soon, both programs are hosting fan events. Seminole Softball First Pitch Party is February 5, featuring the annual Garnet and Gold Scrimmage and Fan Day. On February 12, Florida State baseball will host its annual Fan Day autograph signing and scrimmage in Haggard Plaza at Dick Howser Stadium.

Softball opens the 2022 season on February 11 at 3 p.m. at home against Mercer, as part of the JoAnne Graf Classic weekend, in which the Noles also face Kennesaw State and Loyola. Baseball opens the season on February 18 at 6 p.m. against JMU. The full 2022 FSU baseball schedule can be found here, and the softball schedule can be found here.

Brisas is revolutionizing how the world consumes and views Latinx cuisine. As an established family-owned and operated company serving customers through bakery, restaurant, and wholesale divisions, Brisas has built a reputation focused on high-quality food at affordable prices. Brisas strives to culinarily represent the characteristics of its Colombian roots, identified by warm, friendly and cheerful service. For more information, visit brisasempanadas.com.
