ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio Athletics has reached an agreement with 850 ESPN Cleveland to join the Ohio Sports Network from LEARFIELD or a schedule of six regular-season men’s basketball broadcasts. The first is on Saturday as the Bobcats host Western Michigan.

“We are excited to add Ohio Bobcats Men’s Basketball to our lineup this winter as we approach the MAC Tournament’s return to Cleveland in March,” said 850 ESPN Cleveland Director of Content Matt Fishman. “Ohio has set itself apart as one of the top mid-major programs in the country this season and we’re thrilled to offer our fans a strong slate of games down the stretch run.”

850 ESPN Cleveland is the flagship for the Cleveland Browns Radio Network, and has long established itself as the go-to station for sports in northeast Ohio.

“This is a special run and a special season for Bobcat Basketball, so the timing is perfect for this partnership,” said ‘Voice of the Bobcats’ Russ Eisenstein. “As a broadcaster, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to paint the picture of this tradition rich program on such a great station in a great city and market. I hope fans, old and new, enjoy the brand of ‘infotainment’ they’ll hear.”

Building a radio bridge from Athens to Cleveland plays an important part in cultivating the relationship between the university, athletic department, and program with the thousands of alumni and fans in the region. It also helps build a buzz for the Bobcats in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament at Rocket Mortgage Field House on March 10-12.

Coverage of the Bobcats and Broncos starts at 1:30 p.m. with the tip at 2 p.m. from the Convocation Center.
