Red River Showdown

The first matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns took place in 1900. Since 1929, the storied football game has been played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas as part of the annual Texas State Fair. The 2018 meeting of the two teams marked the 114th rivalry game, and Texas leads the overall series with a record of 62-47-5. The Red River Showdown is traditionally a sell-out year after year, and played on the first or second Saturday in October. The Texas/OU football game brings approximately 300,000 people to the State Fairgrounds on game day, with total game attendance 92,300. Learfield IMG College has been aligning corporate sponsors with Red River Showdown since 1995.
