Allstate Red River Rivalry

The first matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns took place in 1900. The storied football game is played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas as part of the annual State Fair of Texas.

The 2022 meeting of the teams marks the 118th game between the two schools. In 2021, the game provided ABC with the second most-viewed Red River Rivalry over the past 10 years. The game averaged 5.9M viewers (up from 4.8M in 2020 on FOX) and peaked with 8.3M viewers. That trails only the 2019 broadcast (7.31M on FOX) over the past decade.

The Red River Rivalry is traditionally a sell-out year after year, and played on the first or second Saturday in October. The Texas/OU football game brings approximately 200,000 people to the State Fairgrounds on game day, with a total game attendance of 92,300. LEARFIELD has been aligning corporate sponsors with the Red River Rivalry since 1995.
