Another college season on the diamond has come to a close with LSU Baseball and Texas Softball claiming titles at the Men’s and Women’s College World Series. Let’s take a look back at the 2025 season through the lens of Fanbase, the most powerful fan data platform in college sports.
- Softball and Baseball both experienced strong social media growth in 2025, with softball gaining 37.4% in average engagement rate per post on the strength of unprecedented star power and TV viewership, while baseball increased 25.5%.
Softball
- Texas’ National Championship social media post generated over 2 million impressions and 86,000 engagements, the most engaging softball social media post of the year.
- Ole Miss experienced a 126.5% increase in average attendance per game from the 2024 to 2025 season.
- Florida Softball’s social media efforts paid off in 2025 with a 60% year-over-year increase in average engagement rate per post while SEC counterpart Tennessee saw a 39% increase in average engagement rate from 2024 to 2025.
- National runner-up Texas Tech boasted a highly competitive year off the diamond as well, experiencing a 160% year-over-year increase in average attendance per game, a 419% increase in social media impressions, and a 43% engagement rate that was the highest in the country.
- Oklahoma continued to be one of the most followed programs in the nation, collecting the most social media impressions of 2025 with over 154.8 million.
- On the strength of their Women’s College World Series run, Oregon Softball experienced an incredible 291.5% year-over-year increase in web page views in 2025.
- The Women’s College World Series contest between UCLA and Tennessee on June 1 had the second highest viewership of any WCWS in last 2 years at 2.19 million, ranking behind only Game 3 of this year’s WCWS Final between Texas and Texas Tech (2.39 million viewers).
- In total, WCWS viewership increased an average of 41.6% per game in 2025 versus 2024.
Baseball
- Arkansas fell just short of their ultimate goal in Omaha, but continues to hold a strong connection with its fanbase which led to more social media impressions than any baseball or softball team in the country in 2025 at over 210 million.
- The Louisville Cardinals came similarly close to competing in the College World Series Final and saw impressive social media growth of their own in 2025, seeing a 27% year-over-year increase in total social media impressions.
- National runner-up Coastal Carolina saw great support from its home fans in 2025 with average attendance per game increasing by 23.1% in 2025
LSU also saw a strong increase in average attendance per game on the way to their eighth national title, boasting a 17.6% increase from 2024 to 2025. - 2025 College World Series Cinderella story Murray State had the biggest average attendance increase of any CWS participant this year, seeing a 24.2% increase throughout its historic season.
- The Oregon State baseball program tallied a 37% year-over-year increase in social media engagement rate in 2025 versus 2024.
- Arizona and UCLA both experienced strong fan engagement boosts via their official athletic sites in 2025, with Arizona’s web page views increasing 39% year-over-year while UCLA experienced a monstrous 93.8% increase in web page views year-over-year.
