Fanbase, a new product recently launched by the Learfield strategy team, is at the cutting edge of using analytics to unlock the next wave of growth in college sports. By aggregating data across ticketing, sponsorship, digital and social channels, Fanbase helps Learfield and our school partners to better understand how fans engage with college athletics. Our objectives are to increase merchandise & ticket sales, as well as deliver greater marketing efficiency and effectiveness, through traditional and digital campaigns.

The Sr. Director, Measurement & Analytics will play an integral role in our organization and help us shape the future of the way data is used in college athletics. This position will oversee two divisions of the Fanbase team including the data analytics team as well as a newly created measurement team focused on the impact of sponsorship and data within college athletics. The core focus of this role will be to evaluate, analyze and model data that is focused on specific applications of ticket sales, sponsorship and overall Fanbase product enhancements.

You will report to the Fanbase Product Manager. Additionally, you will work closely with the Senior VP of Corporate Strategy & Development and Managing Director of Fanbase as well as other members of the Strategy & Development team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the data analytics and measurement teams
  • Education, train and lead analysts on the applications of data science as it relates to ticket sales as part of our Ticket Sales & Solutions group
  • Develop, hire and build the newly created measurement team that is focused on measuring the impact of sponsorship within college athletics
  • Develop in-house measurement tools and work closely with 3rd party data providers to align on measurement capabilities and offerings
  • Lead fan surveys, focus groups, and market research studies to evaluate the impact of our partners sponsorship activations
  • Serve as the lead data scientist on the Fanbase team directly implementing data models, analysis, and evaluations across all units and products
  • Plan, organize and prioritize work in conjunction with the product and engineering teams and communicate with stakeholder and cross functional teams.
  • Evaluate current and future data sources to coordinate data needs to engineering team for analytics purposes
  • Assist in the creation of qualitative and quantitative studies as it relates to Fanbase and Learfield data for the purpose of industry white papers
  • Work with internal and external partners to build strategic initiatives around the use cases of data analytics and measurement across the enterprise
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative analytics culture in line with company values

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in related field and or experiences
  • Master’s degree in data science, business analytics, statistics, computer science, or related field
  • Experience working with data to drive analysis in support of executive and business decision-making
  • Experience working in cloud-based data solutions (Microsoft Azure a plus)
  • Working experience in Microsoft products such as VS Code, SSMS
  • Previous technical background in the design, development and delivery of Data and BI solutions would be an advantage
  • High competency in SQL, R, and Python
  • Experience with Tableau a plus, but not required
  • Strong stakeholder and cross function team management skills
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable project management skills; scheduling, prioritization, risk identification with clear stakeholder engagement
  • Flexible, adaptable, tenacious and enjoys working in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Ability to work both strategically and operationally, avoiding unnecessary complexity
  • Confident in tailoring communications and content for a wide range of stakeholders from senior management and hands-on engineers.
  • Experience in Sports / Media / Entertainment and/or sponsorship is a plus, but not required
