Learfield is actively seeking a Publications Specialist located in our Lexington, KY office. The following Responsibilities and Qualifications are outlined below:


  • Desktop publishing work based in InDesign.
  • Working in a group setting and on multiple projects simultaniously, the Specialist will create custom publications for collegiate athletics departments and events — both print and digital — following established branding and templates for each project.
  • Specific duties to complete each project may include:
    • layout/design
    • proofreading
    • copy-fitting
    • cross-checking
    • photo editing
    • creation of graphic box to highlight specific material
    • posting digital publications to SIDEARM websites and/or social media
  • Acting as a liaison between Publishing and partners — both internal and external — as it relates to content and distribution.
  • Communicating accurately with the project’s Manager as it relates to job flow and status within the Publishing team.
  • Assembly of flowsheets (ie., project ladder) for advertising and editorial copy, including determining placement of advertisements and program size with sales staff at each property.
  • Coordinate with Director of Publishing to ensure projects stay within assigned budgets and timelines.


  • Bachelor’s degree required in journalism or related communication field.
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in sports information, newspaper/magazine publishing or a combination of those.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
  • Understanding of desktop publishing systems (InDesign/Adobe focused).
  • Working/general knowledge of sports world, particularly collegiate athletics.


  • Compensation: $16 – 17.31 per hour ($33K – $36K annually)
