As a member of CLC’s Legal Team, the Trademark Enforcement Paralegal will be responsible for assisting in the management of brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, anti-piracy, and various other intellectual property matters on behalf of various collegiate institution partners. Additionally, this role will support the Legal Team’s contract compliance program, which monitors licensees’ compliance with their royalty payment and related contractual obligations. This position is full-time and is located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys with contract compliance and trademark infringement matters, including preparation of cease & desist and contract compliance letters; communicating with licensees, third-parties, and collegiate institution partners; and conducting consistent follow-ups on outstanding matters
  • Submit online infringement takedown request to marketplaces and social media websites such as Etsy, Amazon, eBay, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Assist with onboarding collegiate institution partners onto third-party online enforcement vendor’s platforms (e.g. MarkMonitor, Counterfind, etc.)
  • Assist with enforcement matters and initiatives in connection with CLC’s membership in the Coalition to Advance the Protection of Sports Logos (CAPS), along with the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL
  • Assist staff in preparing for and reporting on Game-Day Enforcement anti-counterfeit initiatives
  • Record trademarks with the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) e-Recordation Program, and collaborate with local and federal law enforcement and private investigators regarding anti-counterfeit activities
  • Review United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Official Gazette for applications containing confusingly similar trademarks
  • Conduct litigation support, including calendaring deadlines and organizing case files

Qualifications:

  • 4 year college degree, paralegal associate degree (or other relevant certification), or equivalent work experience
  • Expertise in trademark enforcement practices, particularly internet-based enforcement; internet research savvy
  • Knowledge of litigation documentation and materials
  • Excellent computer skills, and tech savvy to quickly learn new software as needed
  • Demonstrated adaptability in advising a variety of client teams driven by a diverse set of business objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment and to work effectively with people at many different levels
