Virginia Tech Sports Properties is Learfield IMG College’s local, dedicated entity representing Virginia Tech University. In complete collaboration with the University, this team is committed to extending the affinity of the University’s brand to businesses and corporations of all sizes looking to align with the undeniably loyal and passionate collegiate sports fan base.

As exclusive multimedia rights holder for the University, our team manages all aspects of the rights relationship. Providing corporate partners with traditional, digital and other non-traditional media opportunities to bolster their own brand and garner maximum exposure through inventory such as venue signage; digital engagement including social media, the official athletics website, content, digital gaming and retargeting, event sponsorships and promotion; corporate hospitality; television and radio game broadcasts and coaches’ shows.

Learfield IMG College is actively seeking a Social Media Coordinator to work on campus from Blacksburg, VA supporting Virginia Tech athletics directly. The Social Media Coordinator will assist in the creation, execution and evaluation of content and campaigns across Virginia Tech athletics’ social media platforms with particular attention paid to sponsorship opportunities and fulfillment. This position reports to the Director of Digital & Social Media Strategies and will support cross-functional work by building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, managing the department’s social media content calendar and creating and publishing content that drives stakeholder engagement and advocacy.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field with 1-2 years of professional experience in a communications or digital marketing capacity within a collegiate sports property, professional sports property, or agency setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree, preferably in business administration or sports management, with 2-3 years of professional experience in a communications or digital marketing capacity within a collegiate sports property, professional sports property, or agency setting.

Duties & Responsibilities

50% – Maintain social media content calendar to ensure alignment with internal and external partners; create and publish content, inclusive of co-branded campaigns and assets, across Virginia Tech athletics’ social media properties as guided by content calendar

25% – Assist with social media campaign planning; help tell the department’s story and create engagement with various stakeholders; stay current on social media trends and best practices; respond to comments and direct messages in a timely manner

20% – Track, analyze and report on social media performance; guide relevant internal groups on best practices; work with external partners to evaluate performance and inform content, messaging, optimization, etc.

5% – Other duties as requested by the athletic director or department head.
