As a member of the Oregon State Athletics Beaver Creative team, the Assistant Director, Digital will be responsible for creating and executing a creative/branding, digital and social media strategy for Oregon State Athletics. The role will serve as the operator of the primary athletics accounts.  With the support of the Beaver Creative staff, and under the supervision of the Associate AD, Brand Strategy & Marketing, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with members of key internal and external constituents to drive brand awareness, enhance revenue, showcase fan engagement and other goals set out in the Oregon State Athletics Strategic Plan.



  • Reports to the Associate AD, Brand Strategy & Marketing to collaborate on strategies and tactics to advance the goals of Beaver Athletics using various digital platforms
  • Operate athletic department primary social media accounts with the goals of increased engagement and following, promotion of important athletics initiatives and revenue generation
  • Monitor emerging trends and platforms, and make recommendations for adoption
  • Create content and event coverage plans that are sharable within the department (daily/weekly/monthly)
  • Create graphics, motion graphics, videos, photography and other multimedia content for use on social platforms
  • Develop strategies and tactics, and create content to assist in the growth of following and brand value of individual student-athletes
  • Compile data and make decisions based on both analytics and instincts
  • Supervise and provide constructive leadership for social media interns, leading meetings, delegating tasks, setting deadlines, managing workflow, and providing support and development
  • Proactively interacts, engages and communicates with fans via social platforms
  • Effectively communicate with teams, coaches, players, recruits, families, and guests as required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or related field
  • 1-year full time experience or two years part time experience
  • Demonstrate a proficient understanding of how all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat) and their communities work, including emerging platforms
  • Ability to make decision aligned with university and department core values in high pressure situations
