Fan vote to determine new logo to be featured in all Missouri-Kansas matchups
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The historic Border Showdown rivalry series has a new title sponsor in StorageMart, who signed on in a multi-year deal to present head-to-head meetings between Missouri and Kansas across all sports.
Two of the first 2025 meetings in the rivalry, which dates back to 1891, will be played on the gridiron and the hardwood. The Tigers and Jayhawks will meet in Columbia on Sep. 6 in football and at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Dec. 7 in men’s basketball.
“As title sponsor of the StorageMart Border Showdown and longtime Official Storage Partner of both Mizzou and Kansas athletics, we’re proud to support the return of this iconic rivalry that brings communities together on both sides of the border,” said CEO of StorageMart, Cris Burnam. “At StorageMart, we’re all about making it easier to create space for the moments and memories that matter — and this is one fans will never forget.”
As part of the rebranded StorageMart Border Showdown, two potential logos will be unveiled July 10th, with a fan vote deciding which design will become the new artwork representing one of the nation’s oldest rivalries. The fan vote will conclude on July 24th, and the new StorageMart Border Showdown logo will be revealed on July 25th.
“StorageMart is a terrific partner from right here in Columbia and their support of Mizzou Athletics over the years has been incredible,” added Laird Veatch, University of Missouri Director of Athletics. “Now, we look forward to moving into a new era of the Border Showdown with StorageMart by our side.”
A proud partner of Mizzou and Kansas Athletics since 2019, StorageMart was founded out of Columbia, Missouri in 1999 and provides a focus on quality self-storage experiences across more than 250 locations throughout the U.S., Canada and UK. In just over 25 years, StorageMart has grown to become the largest family-owned and privately operated self-storage company in the world.
“We’re thrilled to have StorageMart enhance their commitment to the Jayhawks,” said Travis Goff, University of Kansas Director of Athletics. “Their continued support and understanding of this unique rivalry makes them the ideal partner for the StorageMart Border Showdown.”
The joint partnership was facilitated by Mizzou Sports Properties and Jayhawk Sports Properties, the locally based teams of Learfield – the media and technology company powering college sports – and exclusive multimedia rights holders for Mizzou Athletics and Kansas Athletics, respectively.
