GAINESVILLE, Fla. – May 5, 2025 — The Florida Lottery has created custom graduation cords to recognize graduating students who received the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Eligible students were able to pick up their cord at the University of Florida official campus bookstore starting April 30, 2025
“Graduation is a milestone worth celebrating, and the Florida Lottery is proud to recognize the achievements of Florida’s Bright Futures Scholars with custom graduation cords that symbolize their hard work, dedication, and bright future ahead,” said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis. “These cords are more than just symbols of achievement — they represent opportunity, perseverance, and the incredible potential of Florida’s next generation of leaders. We are honored to stand alongside the talented Bright Futures Scholars who have earned this moment through academic excellence and determination. Their success is our purpose, and their future is Florida’s promise.”
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program, primarily funded by the Florida Lottery, is a scholarship program that rewards Florida high school graduates for high academic achievement. Florida Academic Scholars are eligible to receive an award amount equal to 100% of tuition and mandatory or applicable fees. Together with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), the Florida Lottery has helped over one million scholars and counting receive a postsecondary education.
These custom graduation cords are part of a continued partnership between the Florida Lottery and Florida Athletics. The Florida Lottery collaborated with athletics multimedia rights holder Gators Sports Properties, the locally based team of Learfield – the media and technology company powering college athletics.
