Renowned Women’s Basketball Program is Focus of Four-Part Docuseries Launched Today

STORRS, Conn. – Devoted fans of the UConn women’s basketball program will not want to miss THE STANDARD – a new series launching today with behind-the-scenes access and interviews with the Huskies’ 2022-23 team members and coaches.

The four-part docuseries, presented by Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast, is another original content collaboration for Husky fans by UConn Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD, and the LEARFIELD Studios team.

Episodes 1 and 2 of THE STANDARD launched today. Episodes 3 and 4 will be released on November 2 and November 9 respectively. Fans can watch all four episodes and the series’ trailer on THE STANDARD’s dedicated page within UConnHuskies.com.

“Enhancing the quality and depth of content options for UConn fans has never been of greater importance, and in-depth feature programming like THE STANDARD is an exciting reflection of that commitment,” Tysen Kendig, vice president of communications for UConn. “LEARFIELD Studios continues to be a tremendous partner in these efforts. Together, we’re excited to share more inside looks at our student-athletes, coaches, and programs through docuseries like this, as well as new vehicles to distribute this exclusive content to our fans.”

Each episode is between four and seven minutes, taking UConn fans on a journey through the months leading up to start of this year’s season. THE STANDARD will feature team practices and film sessions, as well as introduce fans to the program culture on and off the court.

Head Coach Geno Auriemma noted, “I think fans are going to enjoy seeing this team prepare for the upcoming season and getting a behind-the-scenes look to our program. We have a lot of big personalities on the roster, and they’ve all been working hard on and off the court. UConn and LEARFIELD have put tremendous support behind this project, and I think the product is going to be impressive.”

LEARFIELD Studios’ best-in-class production is complemented by an experienced director in Lindsey Felling, who has worked with Marvel Entertainment, CBS Sports, ESPN and NBC Sports Group. Felling also is a former student-athlete, having played basketball at Cornell.

“There is undoubtedly a great story to tell as it relates to UConn women’s basketball, and we’re honored to launch THE STANDARD for Husky fans alongside Athletics and LEARFIELD Studios,” said Tom Murphy, general manager for LEARFIELD’s local UConn Sports Properties. “We feel certain fans will love the content, driven by a first-class director, with authentic footage of their favorite players. We’re also grateful for the support of our partner and presenting sponsor on the project, Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast.”

The UConn women’s basketball team hosts Kutztown on November 6 in an exhibition game at XL Center in Hartford. UConn then plays host to Northeastern at home on November 10 at 7 p.m. The complete 2022-23 season schedule can be found on the official athletics website.
