ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State University Athletic Department and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD, have announced Steve Linzmeier as “Voice of Huskies Basketball” concurrent with the 2022-23 college athletics season.
Linzmeier, a Pine City, Minn. native who officially joins Husky Nation on October 1, will handle play-by-play duties for both men’s and women’s basketball games and seasonal coaches’ show. He is an award-winning broadcaster with 15 years of sports media experience at the high school and college level.
Linzmeier, who is currently pregame and postgame show host for the St. Paul Saints radio broadcasts, was honored in 2019 as the Eric Sevareid Award winner for play-by-play. He also won the 2016 North Dakota Sportscaster of the Year bv the National Sports Media Association. Additionally, in both 2014 and 2015, Linzmeier received the Teddy Award and Award of Merit as recognized by North Dakota Broadcasters Association. His career experience also includes spending nine seasons as the Voice of the University of Jamestown.
“I am honored that I have been chosen to take over as the next Voice of Husky basketball,” said Linzmeier. “It’s long been a goal to broadcast games in the NSIC, and I couldn’t ask for a better spot than St. Cloud State to do that. I can’t wait to get to work and start meeting all the people connected to Husky hoops.”
