DENTON, Texas – UNT Athletics and its exclusive multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Mean Green Sports Properties, announced today a new relationship between the Mean Green and Falls Media, LLC in Wichita Falls, TX. This agreement along with current affiliate, KHYI 95.3 “The Range,” will expand the radio footprint for football fans to hear radio broadcasts in the communities surrounding Wichita Falls and Lawton, OK, complementing the current coverage east to Durant and Greenville, and south through the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area.
“We are pleased to announce this new partnership that expands our football radio network and broadcasts to an even larger area in DFW, North Texas and Oklahoma,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker said. “With multiple options both over the air and online, it has never been easier to listen to a Mean Green victory than it is in 2022.”
Mean Green fans also have free streaming access to complete audio coverage of North Texas football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball games as well as coach’s shows and podcasts on The Varsity Network, LEARFIELD’s audio home for live and on-demand Mean Green Sports content. The Varsity Network content can be accessed via desktop or via The Varsity Network app, available for download on all major digital distribution platforms.
The Mean Green Sports Network broadcasts are led by North Texas alumnus Dave Barnett (8th year, both) on play-by-play and Hank Dickenson (25th year, football; 27th year, men’s basketball) on color commentary of football and men’s basketball, and Zac Babb (6th year, football; 4th year, women’s basketball) handles play-by-play of Mean Green women’s basketball and serves as the studio host for football.
Hosted by Barnett, the Seth Littrell Radio show begins on August 23 at Rudy’s Country Story and Bar-B-Q in Denton and will air each week during football season with the exception of October 4 and November 15. The weekly program will air on KYHI 95.3 FM and The Varsity Network app.
