FRESNO, Calif. – After a successful launch, Fresno State Athletics and iHeartMedia – the exclusive radio home of Bulldog broadcasts – are continuing to find new platforms and distribution channels to further expand coverage for the Bulldogs’ brand.

Starting tomorrow, Fresno State Baseball will have their games broadcast on 96.7FM KALZ, a 25K-watt FM station that adds robust Bulldog Sports Network coverage throughout the Central Valley and simulcasts on 1400AM KRZR, which includes live Opening Day Coverage of the Diamond ‘Dogs hosting UC Riverside at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.

Fresno State Football (2022) and Men’s Basketball (2022-23) will also have their broadcast coverage expanded to 96.7FM KALZ and 1400AM KRZR, in addition to their current channels.

For football, these two stations will make the Bulldog Sports Network a seven-station network, adding KALZ/KRZR to the five stations that carried the 2021 season. These stations include:

  • KCBL “Fox Sports” 1340 AM – Fresno
  • KWSX “Fox Sports” 1280 AM – Stockton
  • KHTY “Fox Sports” 970 AM – Bakersfield
  • KOSO “Big Dog” 92.9 FM – Modesto
  • KRDU 1130 AM – Dinuba

“Year one of this partnership has been incredibly successful in not only bringing Bulldog games and coaches shows to Red Wavers throughout the Valley and beyond, but also in further advancing the Fresno State brand by engaging new audiences across iHeartMedia’s diverse and expansive listener base, both on terrestrial radio as well as their streaming platform,” said Frank Pucher, Fresno State senior associate athletics director for external relations. “The addition of a 25k-watt FM station to the Bulldog Sports Network further amplifies our expansive terrestrial reach and offers new and exciting opportunities to both fans and our community partners.”

This exciting news comes on the heels of the Fresno State Football schedule release on Wednesday, which once again brings the Biggest Party in the Valley back to Bulldog Stadium at least six times in 2022 – Cal Poly (Sept. 3), Oregon State (Sept. 10), San Jose State (Oct. 15), San Diego State (Oct. 29), Hawai’i (Nov. 5) and Wyoming (Nov. 26).

“The partnership between iHeartMedia and Fresno State Athletics has exceeded our expectations,” said Steve Darnell, iHeartMedia Area President.  “Listener demand for Bulldog Sports on our stations throughout the Central Valley has been huge and the timing is right to expand opportunities for the Red Wave to hear Fresno State Athletics in Fresno and the surrounding communities by adding 96.7 FM KALZ, and 1400 AM KRZR to the Bulldog Sports Network”.

This past fall season delivered a memorable Bulldog Football experience – on and off the field. Following a 10-3 season, capped by a win in the New Mexico Bowl, and welcoming back Jeff Tedford to coach (again) his alma mater, the 2022 schedule was released yesterday as the team looks to bring back the Mountain West title to the San Joaquin Valley.

Bulldog Sports Properties of LEARFIELD, the multimedia rightsholder of Fresno State Athletics, partnered with iHeartMedia in July 2021 to be the exclusive radio broadcast partner of the Bulldogs. This relationship delivered immediate results in the first season, with 4.6 million impressions delivered across Fresno State football games and coaches shows on the terrestrial dial. Over 33K total listening hours of Fresno State Athletics content was delivered via audio streaming. The combination of measurable and trusted terrestrial stations up and down the 99 with best-in-class streaming options (the GoBulldogs app, The Varsity Network app, and the iHeartRadio app) allow the Red Wave to be connected to the Bulldogs in unprecedented fashion. The lead voice of a talented broadcast team, Paul Loeffler, delivers the action, and now to be able to measure and report the data, positions Fresno State Athletics to consistently improve the listener experience.
