National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sponsorship is at Core of Multi-Year Renewal

BURLINGTON, Vt. – UVM Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, LEARFIELD’s Vermont Sports Properties, announced today the renewal of the Vermont Mutual and Catamounts’ sports marketing relationship. Under the renewal agreement, Vermont Mutual will retain category exclusivity for the state.

The new, multi-year agreement will focus on a new core component – Vermont Mutual’s presenting sponsorship of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 5, 2022. To acknowledge the accomplishments of female student-athletes, UVM and Vermont Mutual will host a celebration at the women’s basketball game that Saturday when the Catamounts play host to UMass Lowell at 2 p.m.

Vermont Mutual’s President and CEO Dan Bridge noted, “Vermont Mutual is very proud to continue our partnership with the University and to support National Girls and Women in Sports Day and the dedicated female student-athletes at UVM.”

Additionally, as part of its renewed sponsorship commitment, Vermont Mutual will continue to receive brand visibility across all sports programs and have on-court logo placement at Patrick Gymnasium.

Notably, Vermont Mutual will continue its support of the “Cats Win, Community Wins” program providing monetary assistance to local nonprofit organizations. Every time any Catamount team wins, Vermont Mutual earmarks $100 to the program. Over the past five years, the company has donated a total of $64,000 through Cats Win, Community Wins to Boys & Girls Club, Make-A-Wish Vermont, Spectrum Youth Services and Vermont Foodbank.

Vermont Mutual’s Executive Vice President & COO Mark McDonnell commented, “We’re excited to continue with the Cat’s Win, Community Wins program. It’s a fun way to get needed financial support to organizations doing incredible work in our communities.”

“Vermont Mutual has been a tremendous partner of UVM Athletics and we’re very excited for their enhanced involvement around National Girls and Women in Sports Day,” said UVM Director of Athletics Jeff Schulman. “We very much appreciate the ongoing commitment to our student-athletes, coaches and our overall program, and the unwavering support of the ‘Cats Win, Community Wins’ initiative which helps support so many amazing organizations in our community.”

“It’s so wonderful to have Vermont Mutual invest in females and their bright futures,” said Women’s Basketball Coach Alisa Kresge. “NGWSD is about celebrating females in athletics everywhere and to honor those remarkable women who paved the way for girls and women today. More importantly it’s about continuing to empower young females and helping them push to achieve their goals in life. A big thank you to Vermont Mutual for being a part of paying it forward to keep doors open for our girls.”
