Students, fans and alumni attending OU men’s and women’s basketball games have the advantage of using their phone to verify their identity safely
RESTON, Va. – IDEMIA, the global identity leader behind TSA Precheck’s technology, is working with the University of Oklahoma (OU) and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety to drive adoption of IDEMIA’s Mobile ID as the preferred identity choice to provide a more convenient, contactless gameday experience for fans. This marks a first, and the relationship was secured by LEARFIELD’s Sooner Sports Properties for oversight during football and basketball seasons.
Fans heading to Lloyd Noble Center in Norman to watch Oklahoma men’s and women’s basketball games can take advantage of the Mobile ID capability. The new adoption provides a digital identity credential allowing fans to attend games without needing their wallets. Mobile ID will be available at all points of sale in the arena during Sooner basketball season. This follows a dedicated pilot program adhered for football this season, utilizing Mobile ID in select premium areas inside Memorial Stadium.
Mobile ID, a password-protected app, stores a digital version of a person’s official identification or driver’s license on their smartphone, facilitating a convenient and contactless process for identity verification. The app, which is free to download and use, is secure because it authenticates the user’s identity by comparing a live selfie to a scan of both their physical driver’s license and profile existing in the state’s record system.
“We continually strive to escalate the gameday experience for OU fans, and we’re excited about incorporating Mobile ID,” said Kelly Collyar, interim general manager for Sooner Sports Properties, the university’s athletics multimedia rightsholder and locally based LEARFIELD team managing the IDEMIA relationship. “Contactless verification leads to faster transactions, helping fans move quickly through crowded lines. It also protects the safety of vendors by allowing them to maintain social distancing protocols with customers.”
IDEMIA’s solutions are the gold standard of identity verification. Developed to put the user in control and backed by a commitment to never share data with retailers or organizations without active permission, Mobile ID pushes Oklahoma forward in its digital transformation offering services that equip residents across the state with a more secure form of identification.
