CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers and LEARFIELD have aligned with Cabarrus Brewing Company to create a series of special craft beers for Niner Nation to enjoy. The first in the series, CBC’s Gold Rush Gold Lager, will be available to consumers beginning this week.

The co-branded beer will be available at over 50 Harris Teeter locations, Aug. 23-29. Check the attached list to locate a participating Harris Teeter near you. Starting Monday, Aug. 30, it will be sold throughout the Charlotte Metro region. The series of beers will also be on sale at Charlotte 49ers home athletic events.

“As a partner and our founding brewer, I’m beyond excited about joining with Charlotte Athletics and creating a series of beers that will reflect the Niner spirit,” said CBC co-owner and founding brewer Jason McKnight, himself a proud 49er alum. “I can’t wait to enjoy these beers at sporting events with friends and other alumni while cheering on Niner Nation. Go Niners!!”

FEATURED AT NINER NIGHTS
Gold Rush Gold Lager will be featured Tuesday, Aug. 31 when the 49ers host “Niner Nights” at Cabarrus Brewing Company. Niner Nights will include Director of Athletics Mike Hill, football coach Will Healy and men’s and women’s basketball coaches Ron Sanchez and Cara Consuegra as Charlotte looks to kickoff the 2021-22 college athletic season. Cabarrus Brewing Co. will also be the host to Niners Live! – the 49ers weekly coaches’ radio show.

“We appreciate the ongoing support and commitment from Cabarrus Brewing Company, right here in our own backyard,” said Jacob Powers, general manager for Charlotte Sports Properties, the university’s athletics multimedia rightsholder and local LEARFIELD team. “It’s even more special to work with corporate partners that bleed the same colors, like Jason McKnight, Cabarrus’ head brewer and 49ers alum. We’re excited about the new elements surrounding this sponsorship and have tools in place to specifically reach alumni and consumers of legal drinking age.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to brew the beer that 49ers fans will enjoy this Fall,” said CBC’s head brewer, Nolan Carpenter. “Celebrating our community is more important than ever.  Beer, sports, the University, they’re all great reasons to celebrate together. For this beer we used all local barley malt, grown about an hour’s drive from the University. A nice simple lager for Niner Nation.”

ALUMNI SUPPORT
“Cabarrus Brewing Company has been a proud supporter of Charlotte Athletics for quite some time,” McKnight added. “The university and its community are deeply tied to what we do and who we are as a company. The majority of our customer base are located right here in the University’s backyard and the majority of our staff are students or alumni of Charlotte who bring the spirit of Niner Nation into our operation daily. Charlotte is in our DNA.”

One side of the can, designed by alum Justin Moore, features a gold miner wielding a pick axe on a gold background while the bold All-In C logo adorns the opposite side. Gold Rush Gold Lager, which appropriately contains 4.9% alcohol volume, will be available in four packs of 16-ounce cans.

DRINK RESPONSIBLY
The Charlotte 49ers and Cabarrus Brewing Company urge fans to drink responsibly and will communicate responsibility messaging at events and during game broadcasts throughout the season.
