Longtime broadcaster to continue career calling Ragin’ Cajuns games

LAFAYETTE – Jay Walker, whose presence on Ragin’ Cajuns radio broadcasts spans four decades, has been named Director of Broadcasting for Ragin’ Cajuns Sports Properties, as announced today by Learfield IMG College, athletics multimedia rights holder for the University of Louisiana.

Walker joined the Ragin’ Cajuns Sports Network in the fall of 1992 and served as color commentator for a decade before assuming play-by-play duties beginning with the 2002-03 basketball season. 

During his career, Walker has been a part of broadcasts for eight football bowl games, six men’s basketball NCAA Tournament games, 12 NCAA Baseball Regionals, four Super Regionals, six women’s softball NCAA Regionals and both the men’s and women’s College World Series.

He celebrated his 300th football broadcast in 2018 and will begin his 30th season in the radio broadcast booth when the Ragin’ Cajuns kick off the 2021 football season at the University of Texas.

In addition to play-by-play duties for football, men’s basketball and baseball, Walker will write regular pieces for RaginCajuns.com.
