BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Sports Properties, the locally based Learfield IMG College team and the multimedia rights holder of Virginia Tech Athletics, res-signed all of its radio affiliates from last year to agreements and even added new stations despite a pandemic-induced summer of uncertainty in the sports and business worlds.

Virginia Tech Sports Properties renewed agreements with all existing affiliates, all of whom will carry Virginia Tech football broadcasts and most of whom will carry men’s basketball broadcasts and football and basketball coaches shows during the 2020-21 year.

“We’ve had to navigate our Virginia Tech partner needs through these incredulous times,” Kyler Piling, general manager of Virginia Tech Sports Properties, said. “And with the limited fan attendance, we know fans will be tuning in now more than ever to listen to Jon Laaser [play-by-play ‘Voice of the Hokies’] and Mike Burnop [color analyst] call the games.”

In addition, the staff added affiliates in Covington, Virginia; Stuart, Virginia; and White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Virginia Tech’s radio coverage blankets the entire Commonwealth, while also reaching into Charlotte, North Carolina and Washington, D.C. – two cities with a large base of Virginia Tech fans and alumni.

“The reach of the Virginia Tech Sports Network has always been built on the strength of its loyal affiliates,” Laaser said. “We were thrilled that the loyalty of those affiliates never wavered through the course of these unprecedented times. And we are extremely pleased to have not only maintained relationships with every affiliate in the network, but also to have been able to expand with three new partners.”
