New SMU-Branded License Plates Available for Mustang Fans, Alumni, Supporters

DALLAS – SMU Athletics and My Plates will team up during the 2020-21 collegiate athletics season, as well as introduce a new SMU-branded license plate for Mustang fans. Anchored by two social campaigns – “Countdown to Football Season” and an “On The Road” travel feature – the relationship with SMU presents a new way to connect with fans.

In addition to its considerable digital engagement, My Plates will roll out a brand-new specialty license plate that Mustang fans, alumni and community supporters can now purchase at Fans can use the promo code MUSTANG to receive a special offer, and the detailed pricing information is reflected on the SMU online purchase page.

Mustang Sports Properties, SMU Athletics’ multimedia rightsholder and dedicated Learfield IMG College team, brought the two brands together and built enhanced digital opportunities for My Plates to engage with fans wherever they may be cheering on the Mustangs this year.

My Plates, the state’s official specialty license plate vendor in Texas has launched the new SMU license plate to the market. My Plates designs and markets new specialty license plates as a vendor for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Texans have bought more than 450,000 My Plates since November 2009, putting more than $80M in the state general revenue fund. My Plates’ goal is to continue excelling in this long-term, mutually beneficial relationship which maximizes revenues for the state through the sale of My Plates specialty plates.
