MONTANA STATE ANNOUNCES NEW FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL BROADCAST TEAMS FOR 2019-2020

JASON ALVINE NAMED VOICE OF BOBCAT FOOTBALL, NEWCOMER ZACH MACKEY TO CALL BOBCAT BASKETBALL

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State Athletics and Bobcat Sports Properties, its multimedia rightsholder and local Learfield IMG College team, introduced three familiar voices and a newcomer on Tuesday for 2019-2020 Bobcat football and basketball broadcasts.

Jason Alvine, the women’s basketball play-by-play voice since July 2016 who has also had a hand in football broadcasts, assumes the role of football play-by-play for MSU’s 2019 season. MSU Senior Associate Athletics Director Dan Davies returns as sideline reporter in 2019, his 32nd season on MSU football broadcasts. Newcomer Zach Mackey joins the crew this year, serving as football analyst and men’s basketball play-by-play voice, while Brian Priebe returns as men’s basketball analyst for home games.

Alvine, who is also the Director of Operations for MSU women’s basketball, worked as the sideline reporter for MSU football broadcasts in 2016-17 before moving into the booth as analyst in 2018. In addition to football and women’s basketball play-by-play, Alvine’s duties include hosting the Bobcat Insider television show and podcast, and Cat Chat. He graduated from Northern Colorado in 2002 and earned his master’s degree from Idaho State, and called women’s basketball, volleyball and baseball at UNC from 2009-15, and prep sports in Colorado (Longmont, 2012-13, and Fort Collins, 2010-11). He was also women’s basketball operations director at Idaho State in 2015-16.

Mackey comes to Montana State from the University of Iowa, where he calls Iowa baseball games and has hosted football pre-game and post-game coverage. He has also worked Hawkeyes men’s and women’s basketball broadcasts. A Geneseo, Illinois product who graduated from Iowa in 2018, Mackey has filled a number of play-by-play, reporting and anchor roles in radio and television, has done broadcasting and content preparation work for the Big Ten Network, and worked as a recruiting assistant in the Iowa football program. He will also add Bobcat Insider content and co-host Cat Chat.

Among the longest-tenured members of Bobcat Athletics in history, Davies played and coached football at Montana State, served as the program’s first head golf coach, and has been an assistant or associate athletic director since 1998.  He has called nearly 350 games as either analyst or sideline reporter on Bobcat broadcasts, working with seven play-by-play men once the 2019 season commences.

Priebe served as an MSU assistant coach from 2008-11. He begins his sixth season as part of the MSU men’s basketball broadcast crew.

“We’re pleased with the broadcast teams in place for next season, and of course we work alongside the athletics administration on every position,” said Quinn Pacini, general manager for Bobcat Sports Properties, which oversees all components of the athletics rights agreement with MSU as well as all broadcast operations. “Zach is incredibly talented, and following a nationwide search, it was clear he was the best match for the Bobcats. He’s excited about coming to Bozeman and working on both football and basketball and being a part of our culture here.”
