CHARLESTON, S.C. – Southern Eagle Distributing officially joins the Cougar corporate partner family over the next three years as announced today by College of Charleston Athletics and its multimedia rightsholder, Learfield’s Charleston Sports Properties.
While Southern Eagle has been a long-standing supporter of CofC, this agreement marks the first time the local beverage distribution company will be an official athletics corporate partner. Committed to increasing its visibility in the various communities it which it serves, Southern Eagle distributes hundreds of known brands ranging from non-alcoholic beverages to beer and wine.
At the core of its new Cougar relationship, Southern Eagle will be donating funds to the Division of Student Affairs at the College of Charleston. These resources will be dedicated to supporting new educational programming and guest speakers to benefit both students and student-athletes as it relates to the ongoing responsibility message.
In addition to working with students on awareness of important issues such as the dangers of drinking and driving and underage drinking, Southern Eagle will receive partnership benefits ranging from in-venue signage at CofC’s athletic venues to having a presence on radio broadcasts throughout the year. As a corporate partner, Southern Eagle also will have use of College of Charleston’s marks and logos.
“Charleston is a significant market for us, and we’re proud to move into a more engaged partnership role with the Cougars,” said Tom Fitzgerald of Southern Eagle Distributing. “We’re pleased to talk about the formal association we now have in place, as well as the opportunity to help play a part in positively impacting the lives of CofC students and student-athletes through our new association with the Division of Student Affairs.”
CofC Director of Athletics Matt Roberts added, “We certainly appreciate Southern Eagle’s years of support to College of Charleston but now welcome them as an official corporate partner of the Cougars. We’re delighted that as part of their commitment to community, this city, and this campus, that they are willing to help us continue to share the overarching responsibility message when it comes to drinking; a vital outreach that is taken very seriously among collegiate institutions all across the country.”
