New Coaches Show, More Cougar Baseball Games To Be Aired In New Agreement

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Learfield, has announced that the Cougars’ flagship radio relationship with Kirkman Broadcasting, Inc., will continue through the 2022-23 season.

Beginning this fall, Kirkman’s WWIK 98.9 FM, WTMZ 910 AM and 94.7 FM stations will remain the radio home for CofC fans looking to listen to Cougar games. In the new five-year term, all men’s basketball games and a total of 20 baseball games will be carried live.

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the College of Charleston and look forward to many years together in the future,” said Gil Kirkman, owner of Kirkman Broadcasting, Inc.

Additionally, Cougar fans will not want to miss out on new programming launching this season – a coaches show that will air once a month throughout the year. During the men’s basketball season, the new coaches show will air twice a month.

“Kirkman Broadcasting has proven to be a great partner,” CofC Director of Athletics Matt Roberts said. “With this new agreement, we are pleased to be able to bring more live Cougar Baseball to fans as well as a brand-new, year-long coaches show.”

College of Charleston is one of nearly 130 collegiate institutions, conferences and arenas represented by Learfield. Its local entity, Charleston Sports Properties, manages the relationship locally. The company’s rich history includes over four decades of developing trusted, long-term relationships with some of the most revered institutions and associations in the world of college sports. Additionally, it titles the Learfield Directors’ Cup and offers its partners professional concessions and ticket sales; branding, licensing and trademark consulting; digital and social platform expertise; campus-wide business and sponsorship development.

“It is a privilege for us to have the opportunity to represent the Cougars,” said Kyle Denzel, general manager for Charleston Sports Properties. “In our due diligence choosing the best radio flagship, it was clear that we wanted to move forward with Kirkman. This new agreement will deliver more baseball games on the air than ever before, along with the addition of the new coaches show.”
