BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State play-by-play broadcaster Jay Sanderson has signed an extension to remain with the Bobcats through the 2020-21 athletic season, MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costelloannounced in conjunction with Learfield, the school’s multi-media rightsholder.
Named the 2017 Montana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association, Sanderson begins his fifth season calling Bobcat football and men’s basketball this fall. Before his time at MSU he called basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball at New Mexico State. He also hosted and co-produced the Aggies’ weekly television coaches’ show and morning and afternoon drive sports talk radio programs. Previously he worked in television and radio in Kansas and Iowa, and is an 11-time Kansas Association of Broadcasters Award winner for excellence in radio and television broadcasting and reporting.

“Jay is a tremendously talented broadcaster who has a great ability to connect our games with Bobcat fans around the world,” Costello said. “He is a tireless worker and is a great ambassador for Bobcat Athletics. We’re glad Jay will remain part of the Bobcat family as a valued member of Bobcat Sports Properties.”
Quinn Pacini of Bobcat Sports Properties lauded Sanderson for his work. “He’s a great talent, and we’re fortunate to have him calling Bobcat game action for three more years,” Pacini said.

The Bobcats football team opens the 2018 season on Thursday, August 30, hosting Western Illinois in the annual Gold Rush game.
