• Official pickup/dropoff zones at Beaver Stadium provide improved Uber experience for riders and drivers
  • New Uber riders can use the code PSU15 to get their first ride free up to $15

STATE COLLEGE, PA — Penn State Athletics and Uber today announced a four-year exclusive partnership designating Uber as the official rideshare partner of Penn State Athletics. Every season, thousands of alumni, students and supporters use Uber in State College to travel to Beaver Stadium, the second largest sports venue in the country, and through this new partnership, Uber and Penn State Athletics will work to provide fans with a more convenient transportation experience before and after every game.

“Teaming up with Penn State Athletics will help ensure that everyone in State College traveling on game day can get an affordable, reliable and safe ride,” said Sarfraz Maredia, Uber’s Regional General Manager for the Northeast U.S. “Together, we’ll focus on optimizing the traffic flow at large events and finding new ways to engage with the broader Penn State community.”

“We are excited to begin this partnership with Uber. Penn State Athletics and Uber share a commitment to serving fans attending our events and we look forward to working with Uber in 2018 and beyond,” said Jeff Nelson, Penn State Associate Athletic Director.

Uber will establish designated pickup and drop-off zones with custom signage outside Beaver Stadium for all home football games, so fans can connect with a ride easily before and after an event. These Uber zones will also be integrated directly into the Uber app, so riders and drivers will receive precise directions on where to meet one another.

To celebrate the new partnership, Uber riders can get their first ride free, up to $15, by using the code PSU15 when they sign up.

Here are pro tips on getting to and from Beaver Stadium:

  • When heading to Beaver Stadium, ask your driver to follow in-app navigation and the signs for the drop-off area.
  • When leaving the game, open the app, enter your destination, then follow the in-app directions to the pickup area.
  • The area surrounding the venue will be crowded after an event, so use your app to call or text your driver if you’re having trouble connecting, and remember to make sure you’re getting into the right car by confirming the driver’s name and license plate number.

As part of their agreement, Uber will promote Penn State Athletics events to their riders, and signage will encourage fans to choose Uber when going to and from games or other events.
