LEWISBURG, Pa. – An exciting arsenal of two new video displays intended to further enhance the fan and player experience at Sojka Pavilion will be unveiled for the start of the 2017-18 basketball season.
Prior to last season’s basketball campaign, Bucknell and ANC teamed up to install the first high-definition video board in Sojka Pavilion on the northeast façade. The 12-feet-high by 20-feet-wide board supplanted the original matrix display that had been in place since the facility opened in 2003, and now the video offerings in Sojka Pavilion are set to be expanded even further this season.
A new sister board – same 12-feet-high by 20-feet-wide LED board – will be added to the northwest façade of Sojka Pavilion. In addition, a 4-feet-high by 40-feet-long ribbon board will be installed on the south façade, just above the McGee Room suite.
“The new video board that was installed last year was received very favorably by our fans and by patrons of other University events held in Sojka Pavilion,” said director of athletics and recreation John Hardt. “Adding another board in the north end will allow us to increase the content for all fans, and the ribbon board will become another attractive way to keep fans informed and energized. When Sojka Pavilion is full and lively, I believe it is one of the best fan atmospheres in all of college basketball. Our partnership with ANC brings new technology and entertaining content, and it only helps to enhance that gameday experience.”
The new displays are operated through ANC’s award-winning vSOFT™ control system. This display system features uncompressed content, providing the clearest visuals available in sports while providing live and packaged video, replays, statistics, contests, closed captioning and other entertainment.
ANC’s creative services department will once again partner with Bucknell Athletics to create engaging and interactive gameday content for the video display system, such as game information, energizing game prompts and student-athlete features.
“ANC is thrilled to be a long-term partner for the digital transformation of Sojka Pavilion,” said Jerry Cifarelli Jr., VP, Sales, ANC. “These new displays provide Bucknell with the tools necessary to enhance their gameday environment for students, fans, and alumni.”
“Without a doubt, this has, and will continue to be, a tremendous addition to Sojka Pavilion and enhancing the overall fan experience, not to mention an excellent asset available to sponsors looking for in-venue visibility,” said Mike Trudnak, general manager for Learfield’s Bucknell Sports Properties, the university’s athletics multimedia rights holder.
ANC, a Learfield Company, provides integrated signage, design, and marketing solutions to sports, entertainment, retail, and transportation facilities. Among ANC’s recent projects include the Seattle Mariners (largest HD video display in MLB); Los Angeles Dodgers (most pixels per square foot in MLB); Cleveland Cavaliers (largest center-hung in the United States); Fulton Center (largest digital media network in a New York City transportation center); Westfield World Trade Center (iconic digital media network); University of Notre Dame (first video board at Notre Dame Stadium); and University of Texas (fourth-largest video board in college football).
The Bucknell men’s and women’s basketball teams are both coming off Patriot League championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Both teams open their 2017-18 seasons on the road on Nov. 10. The Bison women play their home opener on Sunday, Nov. 12 against Akron at 2 p.m., while the first home game for the men will be on Monday, Nov. 20 against Siena at 7 p.m.
Season tickets are now on sale, while single-game tickets will go on sale starting Oct. 27.
