CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa and its athletics multimedia rights partner, Learfield, announced today the statewide television broadcast plans for the Panthers during the upcoming 2017-18 athletic season.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to be to have our home football games shared throughout the state of Iowa and the Midwest,” UNI Director of Athletics David Harris said. “We are excited about the upcoming season and furthering our relationship with our UNI athletic broadcasting partners.”
Fans throughout Iowa and the Midwest will have several viewing options available to them when UNI football kicks off next month. Cedar Falls CFU Cable TV Channel 15 will be joined by WHO 13 in the Des Moines Market; KGCW 26 in the Davenport Market; KCRG-TV ABC Channel 9 in the Cedar Rapids’ market; regionally on Comcast Chicago Sports Net & Comcast Chicago Sports Net Plus; Kansas City’s KSMO and Charter will carry select games throughout the season.
Again this year, the Cedar Falls Cable Division will produce Panther games for the statewide network and for distribution through Cedar Falls Utilities (CFU) Cable TV. The CFU distribution complements the company’s existing UNI Athletics’ partnership via Learfield’s, Panther Sports Properties in Cedar Falls that directly manages the rights relationship.
All television agreements are effective for the 2017-18 athletic season and encompass the following Panther broadcasts: four home football games (Sept. 9 vs. Cal-Poly at 4 p.m. CST, Oct.7 vs. Western Illinois at 4 p.m. CST, Oct. 21 vs. Youngstown State at 1 p.m. CST and Nov. 4 vs. South Dakota at 1 p.m. CST); additional UNI event dates will be announced later. In addition to the four home games the Panther Sports Network will feature one road football games during the 2017 season: Oct. 28 at North Dakota State at 2:30 p.m. CST. All Missouri Valley Football Conference games are also available on the Valley on ESPN3.
Additional broadcasts, including men’s basketball, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Each of the five television outlets for UNI’s 2017-18 athletic season will broadcast the above mentioned games live on their respective channels – CFU 15 and HD415, KCRG 9.2, WHO Channel 13 D-2, KGCW-TV Channel 26.
