Aggies’ Multimedia Rights to be Outsourced for First-Time in School History

DAVIS, Calif. – The University of California, Davis and Learfield announced today a multimedia rights partnership that calls for the nationally known collegiate marketer to represent the Aggies through the 2027-28 academic year.

The agreement marks the first-of-its-kind for UC Davis Athletics and it officially starts with the 2017-18 upcoming athletic season. Learfield’s local team, “UC Davis Sports Properties”, will represent the Aggies and manage all aspects of the rights relationship that includes signage, digital, television and radio broadcasts and coaches’ shows, as well as development of the corporate partner platform. Leading this effort for Learfield’s UC Davis Sports Properties is General Manager Andy Fiske, who most recently served as vice president of sales and service for Sacramento Republic FC.

“We are excited to begin this new relationship with Learfield, and look forward to strengthening UC Davis’ national presence,” said Director of Athletics Kevin Blue. “This partnership will help Athletics enhance the student-athlete experience and create sustainable success for our coaches and teams.”

Learfield now represents six members of the Big West Conference and serves as rights partner to the Conference on a league-wide level. In addition to UC Davis, Learfield holds individual athletics rights agreements with Cal Poly, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and CSUN.

“Our company has developed tremendous relationships with leading institutions throughout the state of California,” said Greg Brown, President and CEO of Learfield. “UC Davis, with its distinct mission as a land grant institution, brings a new dimension to our family of collegiate properties in the state. Furthermore, we are excited to work with Kevin and his team to help build the Aggie brand and engage sponsors with the unique attributes of UC Davis academics and athletics.”

As ambassadors for the sixth-ranked public school in the nation, UC Davis student-athletes experience the ideal combination of elite academics, Division I competition and personal growth. Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing the most comprehensive opportunity for nearly 600 students who compete on one of its 23 teams, and looks forward to celebrating its core values and principles through its relationship with Learfield.

An industry leader for more than four decades, Learfield has a deep presence in the college athletics landscape nationwide. It manages the multimedia and sponsorship rights for nearly 130 collegiate institutions, conferences and arenas, and supports athletic departments at all competitive levels as title sponsor of the prestigious Learfield Directors’ Cup. Learfield also provides its collegiate partners access to professional concessions and ticket sales; branding, licensing and trademark consulting; digital and social platform expertise; campus-wide business and sponsorship development; and venue and technology systems through its affiliated companies.
