Interactive area is the perfect tailgate for adults and children on Mizzou game days

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Football home games in 2016 will feature a brand new, interactive fan area, Tiger Town, which officially opens its gates this Saturday (Sept. 10) before Mizzou’s home opener with Eastern Michigan. The distinct tailgating experience – free of charge and open to fans of all ages – will be located outside of Memorial Stadium on the southeast side before all seven home games. Gates to Tiger Town will open at 3:30 p.m. this Saturday.

At Tiger Town, fans can enjoy listening to the live broadcast of “Tiger Tailgate Radio Show”, interactive displays and giveaways, autograph signings by Mizzou student-athletes and a food and beer garden. Additionally, Mizzou’s youngest fans can take advantage of the MU Children’s Hospital Kid Zone featuring face painting, balloon artists and inflatables. Tiger Town is located in the area formerly known as Truman’s Terrace.

According to Nick Garner, general manager for Mizzou Sports Properties, “Tiger Town pulls together many aspects of the classic tailgating experience, and it was important to us to offer something that was indicative of Mizzou tradition, fun for kids and families and an enjoyable place for fans to hang out three hours before kickoff. We think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

“We’re delighted to unveil Tiger Town for our fans on September 10,” Jim Sterk, Athletic Director of Mizzou Athletics. “This new tailgate offering will be another added value for Mizzou fans on game day, and we’re excited to see the special elements our long-time friends at Mizzou Sports Properties will deliver.”

Tiger Town will be open to any Mizzou fan who is tailgating prior to the game. Tickets to Saturday’s home-opening contest with the Eagles are still on sale and start as low as $15 (general admission hill tickets) and there are special $30 tickets to honor Truman the Tiger’s 30th birthday.
