Programming Grows, Multiple Sports to be Broadcast Through 2021

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M University Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s Texas A&M Ventures, announced today an extension with College Station’s own Bryan Broadcasting to remain the Aggies’ flagship radio home for the next five years.

Concurrent with the upcoming 2016-17 athletic season, fans can continue to rely on WTAW 1620 AM and SportsRadio 1150 the Zone to deliver quality broadcasts of Texas A&M game coverage and related programming through 2021. The relationship between the university and Bryan Broadcasting-owned stations has evolved over the years, and the new five-year term will include football (broadcast in both English and Spanish), men’s and women’s basketball, softball, baseball, as well as respective coaches’ shows during football and basketball seasons. Beginning this year, soccer game coverage and soccer coaches’ shows will be added as well, with a possibility of volleyball in the near future.

“We’re excited to begin our 15th year as the flagship of Aggie football. In the years since we signed our first agreement to broadcast Aggie football, we’ve continued to expand our agreement with Texas A&M Athletics to include basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball,” said Ben Downs, general manager for Bryan Broadcasting. “WTAW broadcast the very first play-by-play in 1919 when Texas A&M played the University of Texas to a scoreless tie. We’re pleased to be the broadcast partner of Aggie Athletics in 2016!”

Jason Cook, Texas A&M’s senior associate athletics director for external affairs, added, “Bryan Broadcasting has been a tremendous partner over many years, providing outstanding coverage of Aggie sports on 1620 AM and SportsRadio 1150 the Zone and its other stations. We recognize our fans are accustomed to tuning into these stations when looking for Aggie game action, to hear from our coaches or get the latest news and information on Texas A&M Athletics. We are looking forward to the expanded sports offerings as we highlight our outstanding student-athletes and coaches.”
