AMES, Iowa
– Iowa State Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports’ Cyclone Sports Properties, announced today an expanded partnership with Iowa Soybean Association, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) and Windstar Lines to present the Iowa State team bus powered by Biodiesel.

The team bus will be utilized by all Iowa State teams throughout the 2015-16 athletic season. Additional logos on the bus include those of Iowa Soybean and REG, a biodiesel manufacturer headquartered in Ames, IA.REG_Logo_RGB_R_TM

“We are excited and proud to have our athletic teams traveling this year in a biodiesel powered motor coach wrapped in cardinal and gold colors, thanks to the generosity of the Iowa Soybean Association, REG and Windstar Lines,” said Iowa State University Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard.

“With our headquarters in Ames, and home to over 200 employees locally and over 600 employees nationally, REG has developed a strong partnership with Iowa State University over the years,” said REG’s Executive Director Sales and Marketing Jon Scharingson. “We rely on universities such as Iowa State to provide the future of our workforce, just as universities rely on REG to provide the fuel of the future through biodiesel.”

“We are proud to say Iowa Soybean Association has worked closely with Iowa State University for over 50 years through production research initiatives to help farmers do what they do best — farm,” said Director of Marketing at Iowa Soybean Association Cate Newberg. “The benefits to using biodiesel are vast—from the remarkable impact on the economy to the lack of odor, biodiesel will benefit all Iowans.”

Scharingson added, “REG is proud to support Iowa State University in providing a cleaner burning, more sustainable fuel alternative through the use of biodiesel in its athletic bus.”

In addition to sponsoring and powering the team bus, Iowa Soybean Association and REG both receive expansive marketing benefits surrounding Cyclone football, basketball and volleyball events at Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum.
