Hosted by Voice of the Minutemen Josh Maurer, UMass Sports Insider will air for 25 weeks on NESN

AMHERST, Mass. – In conjunction with Learfield Sports, UMass Athletics announced Wednesday that its magazine-style television show, UMass Sports Insider, will air on NESN for 25 weeks covering the 2015-16 academic and athletic season.

“UMass Athletics is appreciative and excited to partner with NESN to present UMass Sports Insider each week,” UMass Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford said. “Our goal is to provide quality programming and heightened visibility for UMass Athletics in this region. Partnering with NESN is a significant step in our goal to plant the flag within the Commonwealth, New England region and beyond. NESN is truly New England’s home for sports and we’re thrilled so many of our fans will be able to follow the Minutemen through this exciting arrangement.”

Hosted by Voice of the Minutemen Josh Maurer, the first episode of UMass Sports Insider for the 2015-16 academic and athletic season will air Fri., Sept. 18, at 3 p.m. ET, on NESN. Show No. 2 will air Thurs., Sept. 24 at 2:30 p.m. The following 23 shows will air Thursdays, at 5 p.m. ET, on NESN.

UMass Sports Insider will bring viewers a weekly look at the happenings of UMass Athletics, its coaches and student-athletes. Show No. 1 will include highlights of UMass field hockey’s brand-new, dedicated facility, a look back at football camp and a feature titled “A Day in the Life of a Student-Athlete”. Throughout the season, UMass Sports Insider will feature men’s and women’s basketball, ice hockey and many more of the program’s 21 varsity sports.

Additionally, each week after its initial air date and time, UMass Sports Insider will be available for viewing on UMassAthletics.com.

UMass football hosts its home opener vs. Temple, at Gillette Stadium, on Sat., Sept. 19. Kickoff is set for 3:04 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN3. Ticket information is available at UMassAthletics.com/tickets.
