STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern University has extended its relationship with collegiate marketer Learfield Sports through the 2028-29 athletic year, as announced today by the Eagles’ Athletic Director Tom Kleinlein.
Learfield Sports has been the exclusive multimedia rights holder for the Eagles since February 2014, when the company acquired the assets of Nelligan Sports Marketing. Learfield’s local sales and marketing team – Georgia Southern Sports Properties – manages all aspects of the rights relationship and works with local, regional and national corporations eager to affiliate with the university brand through venue signage; event sponsorships; corporate hospitality; television; digital engagement and visibility via GSEagles.com. The company also produces and distributes the radio game broadcasts and coaches’ shows on the Georgia Southern Sports Network.
“We are excited to finalize this partnership with Learfield Sports,” said Kleinlein. “We have worked with Learfield over the last few years, and we are pleased to extend this relationship with a great organization. The economic benefit we have seen through this partnership has helped the athletic department grow as our journey continues.”
As part of the agreement, the university has selected ANC for the new LED Fascia Display at Paulson Stadium, and Learfield will help lead the integration of the new game day displays. ANC, a Learfield company, joins a broader relationship between Georgia Southern and Learfield, which includes SIDEARM Sports, GSEagles.com provider; and Learfield Licensing Partners, which represents the Eagles.
“Tom Kleinlein is leading a terrific program at Georgia Southern, and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to continue to represent them in many facets from sponsorships and multimedia rights to companies in our portfolio that specialize in best-in-class digital platforms, signage and licensing and trademark management,” said Learfield President/CEO Greg Brown. “We look forward to building upon what’s already been a great partnership.”
Georgia Southern is one of six Sun Belt Conference members to have an individual rights agreement with Learfield Sports, joining Idaho, New Mexico State, Texas State, ULM and UTA. In addition to its core business of managing rights for more than 100 collegiate properties, Learfield is the title sponsor of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup and offers its partners with professional concessions and ticket sales, licensing and trademark consulting, website expertise and venue signage and technology systems through its owned and operated companies.
